About Us and about the Day
Since August 2014, we have built upon an already strong community of educators who collaborate, share, present, and most importantly, teach our students to be successful college and life writers. Some of us have presented together at national and regional conferences and webinars. Each year, we share new ideas with each other at our annual conference and online.

Through all of the suffering of a pandemic that changed our world, our lives and our students' lives, our program continued to thrive, grow, and meet the needs of almost one thousand concurrent enrollment writing students in the 2021-2022 academic year. This success was because of the work of our concurrent enrollment instructors. Our professional development and community of teacher-learners has continued to grow in knowledge and practice; and today we celebrate by being together again on campus for the first time since 2019.

We have been fortunate for the support we have received from the URI department of writing and rhetoric, The Harrington School of Communication and Media, and the Office of Strategic Initiatives in the College of Education and Professional Studies, who is sponsoring today's breakfast and lunch. We must also thank the RI Department of Education for committing to early college opportunities and the RI General Assembly for making these opportunities possible through PrepareRI scholarship funds for all public and charter school students.

We appreciate the support of director Deb Mathews, education specialist Christine Dolan, and the entire staff of the Office of Strategic Initiatives We also appreciate the support of all of the writing & rhetoric chairs over the years, the first year writing coordinator, Stephanie West-Puckett, and the Harrington School Director Dr. Ammina K0thari.
Finally, we owe our greatest thanks to Adella Francis, Lori Paliotti, Ron Zincone, Lee Zeppetelle, and Sopanha (Panda) Touch for preparing and running our event.
